Christmas Revels Auditions June 3rd & 4th, 2017
Every year, California Revels puts together a chorus totaling up to 65 singers. For many chorus members, participating in Revels is the highlight of their holiday season, bringing them together in community, transporting them to another time, giving them comfort in the darkest days of the year. And, it’s a lot of fun! This year we will be under the baton of Shira Kammen! Our Fred Goff will still be with us at performance time, to lead the audience in song.
Adult Chorus and Young Performers
- Who: Performers age 13+
- When: Saturday June 3rd, 1 PM - 4 PM and Sunday June 4th, 2 PM - 6 PM
Adult & Teen (Young Performer) Chorus vocal auditions for the Christmas Revels are done by reservation in small groups.
Prepare a short song. Most applicants choose folk songs or classical songs, but choose something you know well. We do not recommend singing to a recording. A cappella is fine. Your 15-minute vocal audition will include a few vocal scales and exercises, and reading a short piece with your audition group. You may audition without an appointment but you may need to wait.
Bring possible conflicts to add to your application. Photos are not required but, if you have a small one that we can staple to the audition form, so much the better!
There will be a short REQUIRED dance audition, if you intend to dance in the performance. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Dance groups will be taken at 2:00 and 3:00 on Saturday, and at 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, and 6 on Sunday.

Children's Chorus
- Who: Children ages 7-12
- When: Saturday June 3rd, 10 AM - 12 PM (please be prompt)
We are pleased to invite children ages 7-12 years to vocal auditions for the Christmas Revels. Children do not need to schedule an audition. Although we will audition all children as quickly as possible, you should plan to stay up to two hours depending on how groupings work out. Children will sing with a small group of other potential cast members in the order they arrive and sign in.
They do not need to prepare a song, will be taught a small piece, and will be heard in a few vocal scales and exercises.
Please bring any advance notification of possible rehearsal or performance conflicts.
There will be a short dance audition. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Be prepared to stay for the entire time, but probably your child will be free to go after completing the singing and dance portions. However, we wish to hear groups of children together, or to have children read lines.
